Kokoda Memorial Archway
After several years of planning, support from local elders, raising funds and numerous design amendments, Kokoda Memorial Foundation led the project for the installation of the Kokoda Archway Memorial. The three arch design signifies the participation from Australia, America and Japan in the campaign from 21 July – 16 November 1942.
The archway was fabricated in Sydney, Australia, transported to Kokoda via sea and installed onsite. Over two visits by Kokoda Memorial Foundation the archway was painted, plaques installed and surrounds made good. It was only on the second trip by KMF was the top decorative brass pieces installed.
